Before you install an Android game
A five-minute check before your next download
A game can look perfect in a video and still be a poor fit for your phone. These checks help you make a better choice.
1. Check the source
Start with the publisher’s website or official store listing. Match the developer name and review the destination before installing. A familiar game name alone does not identify the publisher.
2. Check compatibility on your device
Use the store listing while signed in on the phone you intend to use. Requirements can change between releases. Avoid treating a generic RAM claim as proof that every phone will run smoothly.
3. Leave room for extra files
The initial download may be only part of the game. Maps, language packs and updates can need additional space. Check the game’s current storage information and leave room for updates.
4. Read the payment and age information
Look for in-app purchases, subscriptions and the local age rating. Free to install does not always mean every item or mode is free.
5. Keep expectations realistic
Publisher screenshots may use different settings from your device. Start with sensible graphics settings and adjust gradually.
